How To Recognize Jesus!
But as many as received Him, to them He
gave the right to become children of God,
to those who believe in His name.
John 1: 12
Many years ago, seminary professor Malcomb B. Yarnell was
lecturing on eschatology—the teachings of the End Times and
the return of Christ. A Master of Divinity student named
Sanghwan Lee sat listening.
About ten minutes into the lecture, Lee realized tears were rolling
down his cheeks. He couldn’t stop crying. He suddenly understood
that he’d been living as a “fake” Christian for years. “So I repented,
repented, and repented in the class,” Lee said. “That was the very
day that I accepted Jesus as my Savior and Lord.”
In the Bible, the children of Israel longed for the Messiah
to come. They looked forward to that day. They studied
the prophecies.
Yet when He came, they did not receive Him. They
thought they were God’s people, but they should have
been open and receptive to the Messiah’s appearance.
As we celebrate our Lord’s coming, let’s make sure we
know Him. Let’s share His message. Those who hear it
can be saved—even in a theology class!
"I'll always remember the day when a hundred students
filled the Truett Conference Room with cheers after
Sanghwan confessed his newfound faith."
