God Will Provide!
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will worry about its own things.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
Matthew 6: 34
In card games, the expression “passing the buck”
evolved to mean passing the task of dealing cards
to another player. Then President Harry S.
Truman
started a different take on the phrase
“passing the buck.”
He had a sign on his desk in the Oval Office
that had read, “The Buck Stops Here.” He was
communicating his job was to make decisions
and take responsibility for the nation—not
something he could pass on to another.
Jesus indicated the
buck stops with God. This
was the important message for His disciples.
He called them away from jobs and livelihoods
(Matthew 4:18-22), something they reminded
Him of on occasion (Matthew 19:27).
Jesus’ message to them
was not to worry
about food, clothing and tomorrow’s needs
(Matthew 6:25-34). God knows of our every
need and will provide (verse 32). If we seek
Him first, all else will be given (verse 33).
Living by faith means “being sure of what
we hope for and certain of what we do not
see” (Hebrews 11:1) including tomorrow’s
needs.
"God’s purposes always
have God’s provision."
John Blanchard
