The Shepherd & His Sheep!
"I am the good shepherd;
and I know My sheep, and
am known by My own."
John 10: 14
Four Labrador Retrievers sit at the feet of
the trainer, muscles twitching as they wait
for their names to be called.
The trainer knows each dog’s name.
The dogs know the trainer’s voice.
This knowledge
results in a bond
of intimacy and trust.
The same was true in biblical times when a
shepherd built a bond of intimacy and trust
with his flock. Jesus said His sheep know
His voice and He leads them out to
pasture
calling them by name.
He leads, and they follow, “for they know
his voice.” So attuned are sheep to their
shepherd’s voice that they will not follow
a stranger who tries to lead them
astray
(John 10:3-5).
Intimacy and trust form the bond between
Jesus and His flock—two traits which are
built over time. Make sure you're investing
the time needed to increase your
intimacy
and trust with the Good Shepherd.
"If we love Christ much,
surely we shall trust
him much."
