He Will Hold Me Fast!
"Even if my father and mother
abandon me, the Lord will
hold me close."
Psalm 27: 10
Ada R. Habershon grew up listening to sermons
of the great Charles R. Spurgeon, who became
a close friend. She also got to know D. L. Moody
and Ira Sankey.
At Moody’s invitation, she lectured at the Moody
Bible Institute, and she wrote several books on
the Old Testament. She also wrote hymns, and
in recent years one of them has gained new
popularity: “He Will Hold Me Fast.”
The words say, “When I fear my faith will fail,
Christ will
hold me fast. When the tempter would
prevail, He can hold me fast.” The refrain says:
“He will hold me fast, He will hold me fast; for
my Savior loves me so, He will hold me fast.”
When we go through times of fear, we must
learn to center our thoughts on the One who
holds us tightly. We can go to a quiet place
and meditate on the beauty of God,
spending time
with Him.
We can go to a place of worship and spend
time with God’s people. We can continually
say, “He will hold me fast.”
"Raised with Him to endless life,
He will hold me fast. ’Til our
faith
is turned to sight, when He
comes at last."
