Much And Little!
"I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound.
Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be
full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need."
Philippians 4: 12
Ancient teachers and philosophers who traveled around
speaking were paid for their services. Their payment was
supposed to be in proportion to the perceived value
of
their teachings.
Since Apostle Paul did
not charge for his
teaching ministry, his opponents said his
teachings had no value in 2 Corinthians
11:7-12.
Paul sometimes received financial support from churches
where he ministered. He also worked as a
tentmaker so as
not to be financial burden to anyone. Why did Paul conduct
his ministry on a by-faith basis when it came to material
needs?
Because he learned that in every circumstance, God was
faithful to meet his needs. Whether he had plenty or
little
didn't matter since he learned to be content “in all things.”
He
had learned that the strength of Christ was sufficient in
every situation (Philippians 4:13).
We are called to live by faith.
Let every moment of need be
an opportunity to trust God.
"Contentment is an embracing
of the providence of God."
