Don't Lose Hope!
"But the saints of the Most High shall receive
the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever,
even forever and ever."
Daniel 7: 18
The most well-known prayer in history is undoubtedly the Lord’s
Prayer that Jesus taught His disciples to pray in Matthew 6:9-13.
In the prayer, the most obvious line may be, “Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (verse 10). Jesus was
teaching His disciples to
pray for God’s authority to rule over all
the earth.
What was behind those words? Jesus knew He was
“the Son of Man” who was given the kingdom by the
“Ancient of Days” (Daniel 7:13). And He knew that in
Daniel’s vision, that kingdom would be given to “the
saints of the Most High” who would possess it
forever and ever (verse 18).
Besides telling His disciples to pray for that actualization,
Jesus confirmed that their prayer would be answered: “Do
not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to
give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32). The anticipation of
the
reality of “Thy kingdom come” should be a source of great
confidence and joy.
Don’t lose hope in this world. If you are Christ’s,
His kingdom is yours—today and forever.
Before we can pray, “Lord, Thy Kingdom come,”
we must be willing to pray, “My kingdom go.”
