Peace On Earth Finally!
"The Lord will be king over the whole earth.
On that day there will be one Lord, and
his name the only name."
Zechariah 14: 9
In 1959, a bronze statue was given to the United Nations
showing a man beating a sword into a plowshare. It suggests
the cessation of war and the transition to a peaceful means of
living such as agriculture.
The statue was donated by the former Soviet Union and was based
upon words from Isaiah 2:3-4, a prophecy about the Messianic reign
of peace on earth: “They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and
their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against
nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.”
Sadly, the United Nations has failed to keep peace on earth.
Instead, nations have experienced the opposite: thus turning
implements of agriculture into weapons of war (Joel 3:10).
The Messiah was the One in Isaiah’s prophecy who would
“judge between the nations” and bring peace on earth. In
John’s revelation, he saw this time of peace as a thousand
years following the return of Christ to judge the nations
(Revelation 20-21).
All who belong to Christ today will reign with
Him over a world judged righteously. And
there will finally be peace on earth.
"No God, no peace;
know God, know peace."
