God's Wisdom & Power!
"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,
and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only
begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."
John 1: 14
A funnel allows us to take a measurable amount of material
and focus it in a small place. The apostle John did that when
He wrote, “The Word became flesh.”
The word for “Word” was logos, a term used by the Greeks
in many broad senses: the first principle, the divine mind,
the ground of reason.
But John narrowed all those broad ideas down into a
single point when He described the first Christmas:
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”
Why did John choose logos to describe Jesus? Because
in Christ all wisdom and knowledge are manifested. He is
before all things, and by Him and through Him all things
were created (Colossians 1:15-20).
Yes, the Christ-Child whose birth we celebrate
was, at first, a helpless infant in a manger. But
at the same time, He was the manifestation of
all wisdom and power and knowledge.
Praise God today for sending Jesus, the Logos,
to be the fullness of God fulfilled in the life of our
Savior.
