In HIS Royal Presence
"The Lord is at hand."
Philippians 4:5
Last year when Queen Elizabeth II visited a children’s
charity in London, she met nine-year-old Nathan Grant
and his adoptive parents. He was totally dressed for the
occasion in a suit and tie. All cameras running, the boy
was star-struck and overwhelmed. He quickly dropped
to all fours, crawled away from the Queen, and exited
with a nervous “Bye!”
Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by the presence and
glory and demands of a holy God, and we’re tempted to
crawl away and exit through a door. But in Jesus Christ,
the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and when
we behold His glory, we are filled with grace and truth.
Develop the habit of practicing in the presence of the
Lord Jesus. By His Spirit He's with you constantly, and
the Holy Spirit dwells within you. Christ is a sanctifying
influence in our lives as we realize who He is and what
He has called you to be. Learn to frequently whisper to
yourself, “Christ is with me, around me, inside me.”
Learn to be comforted by His royal presence.
"Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I
lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I
arise."
St. Patrick
